Interior designer Djamila Sima has been working with the Westwing Design Service for a year. Her concept for a small living room is inspired by Nice and features airy cream and blue tones, as well as natural materials.
The perfect sofa to bring cosiness into a small living room? For Djamila, it’s definitely the MELVA. It combines compact proportions with a deep seat, making it ideal for lounging. Its light tone fits seamlessly into the maritime colour scheme and doesn’t overwhelm the small space.
Instead of a large coffee table, Djamila opts for a small side table that doesn’t take up too much room. The pouffe is also wonderfully versatile: whether as a surface or additional seating for guests – it can easily be placed wherever it’s needed.
Accessories and lighting provide the final touches to the styling. Blue cushions, wall art and similar accents echo the colour of the feature wall, creating a harmonious overall look. The shelving unit is both decorative and functional: Djamila uses a mix of maritime accessories and design pieces to achieve a modern aesthetic.
Melisa Özen has been an interior designer at the Westwing Design Service for four years. Her concept for a small living room focuses on organic shapes, elegant vintage vibes, and high-quality materials — all complemented by the on-trend chocolate colour palette.
Melisa’s approach centres on harmonious shapes that help small spaces feel especially open and welcoming. She positions the ALBA sofa in a warm, dark brown shade across the corner, creating flowing lines that add depth to the design. Multiple light sources contribute to a cosy and inviting atmosphere.
On the opposite side of the room, the focus is on stylish storage. The sideboard echoes the sofa’s shape and colour while offering ample concealed storage — a must in smaller spaces. Natural materials and organic accessories lend a refined look, while the floor-length mirror enhances the room’s sense of space.
Melisa recommends sheer linen curtains for small rooms. They offer gentle privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light to filter through — ideal if your living room has limited windows.
