At Home with Büşra Qadir
The stylist and content creator lives with her family in a meticulously renovated artist’s villa from 1887 – nestled on the edge of a forest near Bremen. The historic building, with its ornate stuccoed hallways and mullioned windows, has been carefully restored and complemented by a bright, airy wooden extension that creates a striking contrast to the original structure.
“I wanted the old and new elements to enter into a dialogue and work in harmony – with open, flowing spaces throughout.”
A classic period home
Double doors, decorative plasterwork, softened light: in the living room, new furnishings meet treasured family heirlooms – carpets, keepsakes and memories that simply belong. An old piano, art on the walls and considered details bring personality into the space. A ceiling light in Art Deco style adds a refined statement, blending period charm with timeless elegance.
Modern, calm, harmonious: soft tones of beige and green, paired with ambient lighting, make the bedroom the perfect retreat.
The extension, built from lightly stained spruce wood, is an open-plan space flooded with natural light. It brings together kitchen and dining areas to form the heart of family life. Dark wood kitchen units contrast with striking marble worktops. A large table and Scandi-style chairs define the open layout – without disrupting its flow.
“I’m absolutely in love with the stone – it brings so much glamour into the timber extension.”
Another highlight: the open gallery. It creates connection – between upstairs and downstairs, cooking and playing, working and listening. The lofty ceiling not only lends the space a sense of visual openness, but also a feeling of freedom.
“The nicest compliment I’ve received from friends was: ‘It’s even more beautiful than on Instagram.’ But that’s not down to the décor – it’s the atmosphere, that sense of being embraced by the house.”
Nothing in this home is fixed in place. The rooms are designed to evolve. Furniture can be rearranged, areas reimagined.
“Home, to me, is a feeling of arriving and being at ease. A place where I can be my true self – and where every member of the family feels so comfortable, they truly want to be here.”
